Here are the top six reason that we love The Ohio State Fair:
- Tradition - Youngsters and adults alike will enjoy an exhilarating ride on the infamous 144-foot long Giant Slide, an encounter with Smokey Bear in Natural Resources Park, or a glimpse of the magnificent butter cow and calf in the Dairy Products Building.
- Animals - Patrons can visit the many barns where cattle, goats, poultry, sheep, llamas, horses, swine, and rabbits are housed and watch one of the many competitions featuring each species.
- Food - Nearly 200 vendors offer a vast variety of food, with everything from classic funnel cakes and apple dumplings, to more creative delights like the Cornbread Funnel Cake or the different Waffle Bomb creations!
- Free entertainment - Family-friendly entertainment is found around every corner, from strolling acts to free stages and more. Meet your favorite mascot characters, see the Pig Races, pet exotic animals at the Petting Zoo or make a mark on the grounds by painting on the giant fair Monster Mural each day. Get up close and personal with the Budweiser Clydesdales. Watch a pack of rescue dogs, the Marvelous Mutts, perform agility, dock diving, and Frisbee into one action-packed show. Sit on the edge of your seat while The Lady Houdini performs her daredevil escape acts! Entertainment is virtually endless, so you won’t have to worry about hearing “I’m bored” all day!
- Education - Educational and hands-on exhibits about Ohio agriculture are featured across the grounds. Stop by one and visit new and expectant farm animal mothers and their young at this educational exhibit near the Dairy Products Building. Learn how to start and maintain your own beehive, as well as the importance of bees to our ecosystem at the Lausche Youth Center. There is always a new hands-on experiment focused on science, technology, engineering, and math waiting for you to try, and these interactive activities provide the chance to learn about the role of agriculture in our daily lives.
- Natural Resources Park - This beautiful eight-acre oasis located on the grounds offers free fishing for kids, kayaking, archery, a butterfly house, a watercraft simulator and much more. Enjoy the opportunity to hear the iconic 14-foot animatronic Smokey Bear surprisingly greet you by name and take a pledge for fire safety. The entertaining and popular lumberjack show will be offered each day of the State Fair. New this year, a daily touch-a-truck event will allow children to explore trucks, boats and more.
