STEM You Can! is a youth-led nonprofit organization that provides free STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) summer camps and after-school programs for elementary and middle school girls around the nation. Our goal is to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders by introducing them to these fields at an early age and inspiring them to pursue them. We hope to show these girls that that science is creative and collaborative by performing hands-on experiments, leading group discussions, and encouraging critical thinking.
STEM You Can! has expanded to over 15 states, and we are excited to finally bring the program to Ohio! You can join the fun and register your daughter for this free summer camp at Columbus Metropolitan Library – Northside Branch from July 8 – 12 (9:30 AM to 1:30 PM). The camp is open to girls entering grades 4-6, and high school and college students can participate as volunteer leaders.
We will explore various topics, including engineering, biology, chemistry, and astronomy throughout the week. In the past, we have held tower-building competitions, created edible ecosystems, and designed unique constellations. Our activities show the students that science is exciting and engaging and that anyone can pursue a career in a STEM field. Our camp counselors are undergraduate women, who are passionate about science and are all pursuing careers in various STEM fields.
Registration is open online here. Email us at girls.science.columbus@gmail.com if you have any questions!
