While your family may not feel safe dining in yet, consider a take out order for home or a breakfast picnic at a local park. See a great list of parks in NW Columbus HERE
My kids and my husband love to go out to breakfast in Northwest Columbus on a weekend morning. I can't say I often tell them no.
After all, what’s not to love about breakfast? No matter what kind of breakfast you’re in the mood for -- the sweet or the savory -- you can find it in Northwest Columbus, Ohio.
Plus … breakfast has bacon!
And don’t even get me started on Bloody Marys!
Hungry for breakfast in Northwest Columbus yet?
I am! So I've rounded up my family's choices for the top five breakfast spots in Northwest Columbus, along with the reasons that my family loves them. I've listed them in alphabetical order:
7717 Sawmill Rd, Dublin; (614)726-9399
Hours: Mon-Thurs 6am-8pm, Fri 6am-9pm, Sat 7am-9pm, and Sun 7am-7pm
What we love: This is no ordinary donut shop. Serving freshly made vanilla cake donuts, Duck Donuts offers a unique twist to plain old coffee and donuts. Browse their long list of icings, drizzles, and toppings to create the perfect masterpiece, or pick one of their recipe favorites. My husband always orders their french toast donut but gives it his own spin by adding bacon. They also have a selection of breakfast sandwiches and delicious seasonal coffees. I personally recommend the Coffee butter white mocha. My kids love that they can watch our order being made from start to finish, and the staff is always friendly and cheerful! As if this wasn’t enough, you can also get your donuts made into a sundae! In the summer, they occasionally offer a fun storytime, as well as unique fundraising opportunities, you can check out on their Facebook.
Hella’s Carryout
9346 Dublin Rd, Shawnee Hills; (614) 792-5494
Hours: Open weekly from 6am-2pm and Sundays from 7:30a-2pm
What we love: Owned by two greek brothers, and nestled just outside of Muirfield, Hella's is a cozy spot to grab a quick bistro-style breakfast or lunch. They make delicious sandwiches, and cobbler, but the french toast is a must. While they have upgraded from their smaller, original location (ask about the history if you have a moment), you should still prepare for a more intimate setting. The dining area holds mostly 4 top tables with chairs (no booths), and the seating is relatively close together, making it feel like you are having breakfast in a friends kitchen. Conveniently located just across the bridge from the Columbus Zoo and Zoombezi Bay, this hidden gem can be the perfect starting point to a fun family day!
Jack and Benny’s Barnstormer Diner
2160 West Case Rd, Dublin; (614) 292-5699
Hours: Mon-Fri 7a-3pm, and Sat-Sun 8am-3pm
What we love: This is another hidden gem, especially if you have children who love airplanes! Located in the Ohio State University airport, this diner has a retro feel with upstanding service and food. The walls are covered in photographs and memorabilia that tell the history of the airport and area. We recommend the ‘Gut buster’ if you’re looking for a carb-loading challenge, but you can’t go wrong with an omelet and some delicious turkey bacon or sausage. There are not a lot of tables, but it is well worth the wait on the rare occasion you have one. Another unique feature is the outside seating which belongs to the airport. On a nice day, you can order your food to go, and sit outside and watch airplanes on the runway.
6725 Avery-Muirfield dr, Dublin; (614)799-9100
Hours: Sunday Brunch, 10am - 2:30pm
What we love: While this buffet is on the pricier side, at $17 a person, the selection is outstanding. There is a made to order omelet bar, that I have yet to find a complaint about. The Belgian waffles are made fresh and there is a large selection of toppings to choose from. They also have your standard (but delicious) breakfast options, as well as dessert selections like cheesecake or chocolate mousse! This brunch is extremely popular, so it is best to make reservations in advance when possible.
Bloody Mary’s and Mimosas are available for an additional fee.
3980 Presidential Pkwy, Powell; (614)760-7220
Hours: Weekly from 6:30am-3pm
What we love: Scramblers is a chain that is not necessarily common to the Columbus area. Sunday brunch can fill up quickly, and while they don’t take reservations, it is definitely worth the wait. The cheeseburger is a Scrambler's favorite when it comes to lunch, but it’s hard to deny their bottomless griddle options. For those that don’t know, this means every full order of pancakes or french toast, comes as all you can eat. No limit? Yes, please! The Banana nut cakes are a family favorite, but the stuffed french toast is hard to resist! With a nice selection of menu items, reasonable prices, and decent sized portions, this is definitely a great spot for breakfast or brunch.
