There aren’t many events where one can find Elsa, Superman, and Darth Vader all in one place, but children in Central Ohio will be able to celebrate with all of those characters and more at an upcoming family-friendly event supporting a great cause. The Junior League of Columbus is hosting its 4th Annual A Breakfast with Characters on Saturday, February 22nd at Station 67 on West Broad Street in downtown Columbus. New this year, the event will be split into two sessions, with one being sensory-friendly. The first session will run from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. The sensory-friendly session will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
During the sensory-friendly session, music and lights will be dimmed throughout the event to cater to children who may be on the autism spectrum or have other sensitivities. In addition, Autism Society Central Ohio is hosting a quiet room during the sensory-friendly session, which will be equipped with a sensory bin, puzzles, sunglasses, headphones, soft seating and snacks.
For both sessions, children of all ages are invited to dress up in costume to mingle with superheroes and princesses from Amy’s Princess Parties, The Royals Project and Adam’s Mascots. Food will be provided by Panera, First Watch, Buckeye Donuts and more. Plus, children can test their skills at catching the famous flying pancakes from Chris Cakes of Ohio.
There also will be crafts, face-painting, a raffle, and dancing, with music provided by Party Pleasers.
Proceeds from the special event will go toward the Junior League of Columbus’ Adopt-A-Backpack for Children Project. Since the project’s inception in 1999, the League has donated more than 55,000 backpacks, stuffed with supplies to children throughout central Ohio.
The ABC Project is one of many initiatives the Junior League of Columbus has initiated over the years. The League was founded in 1923, and our projects have changed throughout the decades to best serve the changing needs of our community.
