Lessons we can learn from Frozen II

We had a blast at the Frozen II Screening Party last weekend! We watched the movie, enjoyed a special frozen treat and families made a sensory globe that featured the five elements featured in Frozen II.  The No. 1 Animated Feature Film of All Time, Disney’s “Frozen 2” arrives on DVD and on Blu-ray February 25.

Frozen II catches us up with all of our favorite characters from Disney’s Frozen.  Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven are back for more adventure with new friends along their way.

Strange things begin to happen in Arendelle when Elsa starts hearing a strange voice calling from far away. Elsa with the help of Anna, Kristoff, Olaf and Sven journey into the unknown to find how their past will shape the future and solve the mystery of the fifth element in their race to save Arendelle.

Each step in their journey brings new friends and new peril. Anna and Elsa both are faced with tough decisions as they learn about their past and what must be done to save everyone’s future.

The animation is stunning and beautiful. Olaf, as always, provides well-timed comic relief, delivering some of the most memorable lines in the movie. The music rivals the original and includes a couple of full-on 80’s style power ballads. There’s no doubt we’ll be hearing these in sing-alongs for years to come.

There are a lot of lessons we can learn from Frozen II, here are a couple that really stood out to me:

  1. Family is everything: As with the first movie, Anna and Elsa’s sisterly bond.
  2. Face your fears: In the movie, Anna and Elsa each have to face their own fears head-on.
  3. Do the Next Right Thing: Sometimes making the right decision is tough and may not benefit you.  Anna and Elsa both have to make hard choices in the face of adversity.
  4. Approaching tough situations can be easier if you have a sense of humor about it: In the movie, Olaf helps keep things light in stressful times by adding funny songs and jokes to help his friends.
  5. Our history and ancestors have important things to teach us: As Elsa and Anna learn in the movie digging into the past helps them solve the mystery of the fifth element.
  6. Sometimes we don’t need someone to save us but to partner with us: Near the end of the movie Kristoff instead of telling Anna he will rescue her he asks how can I help.

My kids are already asking when Frozen 3 is going to come out.
