SuperThings are a fun, new toy from Goliath Games that just hit the shelves of Meijer. I was given the opportunity to check SuperThings out with my family and share them with other local families.
SuperThings bring the message #IAmASuperThing to children, with the idea that they can be SUPER, even doing everyday things. Things such as helping with chores around the house, walking the dog, helping wash and put away dishes, or even cleaning up their rooms. Plus working hard on their education and schoolwork. Kids can also find simple ways to help others like gathering donations and making cards for seniors.
Now more than ever children need to believe in themselves and harness the courage to do good on a daily basis. 2020 has been a hard year for everyone. Thankfully, kids are resilient and can make the best out of a tough situation. Many children are participating in virtual learning or hybrid learning for the first time and this is a tremendous change for a lot of families. They are being asked to be patient and flexible, because even seemingly normal activities like sports and other extracurriculars may not be taking place, or they look very different.
I decided to surprise some of my subscribers by visiting their homes while they were on a break from at-home learning. The kids were excited to open their packages and play with SuperThings. SuperThings are recommended for children over the age of four.
After I left the home of Jessica DeShetler, a local Mom and Macaroni Kid Subscriber, she sent me the following email:
“My children love trading the SuperThings figures with each other. They are playing good guys and bad guys. My oldest (age 10) is reading the comic book and finding the figures. They have been playing with them for half an hour, and have no plans of stopping! I love that they are a screen-free way to play with each other. These toys foster creativity, problem-solving, and cooperation. They're excited to find rare figures and want to collect more! They are perfect counting toys to support math skills. They could also be used as rewards for good behavior. Thanks for sharing a fun, engaging, creative product with us!”
When I played SuperThings with my son, he enjoyed the surprise element of opening the blind bags to see which SuperThings were inside! He spent time matching the SuperThings, SuperHeros, and SuperVillans to the names found in the checklist that comes with them. He figured out that SuperHeros had differently shaped masks and eyes than the SuperVillans. He used his imagination and created a Kaboom City and played battles between SuperHeros and SuperVillans. With 80 SuperThings characters to collect he was anxious to get more. I reminded him of some money he received in a Halloween Card from his grandparents, so we headed to Meijer to purchase some more SuperThings. In the toy department at our local Meijer, we found blind bags for individual purchase and blister packs that contained 4 SuperThings, 1 SuperBlaster, and 3 SuperDiscs.
Check out SuperThings with your kids by heading to Meijer and also by checking out this video.
While the thoughts and opinions are my own I was supplied with the product as well as compensated for the review.
