Busy Bees Pottery & Arts Studio buzzes with activity seven days a week. From nurturing your little one’s creativity without making a mess in your house to sipping a Syrah with girlfriends while painting a platter, the multi-medium studio allows both budding and accomplished artists of all ages to release their inner Rembrandt. “I know everybody wants their piece to look like a masterpiece, but I always say, ‘It’s homemade,’” says owner Beth Brinton. “I tell people to come in, relax, and enjoy the process. You don’t have to have artistic ability. Just have fun.”
The studio, which recently celebrated its opening at Dublin Village Center in Dublin, caters to children and adults and offers open studio times as well as instructor-led programs. School-age children can choose among art classes and camps held during evenings, weekends, and school vacations. Children’s activities occur in the studio or offsite at schools, daycares, or other locations. Among the keepsake projects offered are clay projects or pottery involving handprints and footprints.
In the summertime, camp is available for children to create within various mediums. Parents can register children for one or up to eight different themed weeklong camps. “We work with various mediums to create projects based on that week’s theme,” Brinton explains. Family workshops allow parents and kids to collaborate on projects, such as painting a canvas, sculpting a clay object or painting a ceramic platter.
But sometimes grown-ups crave a little time away from the kids. For those occasions, Busy Bees Pottery & Arts Studio hosts adult workshops, girls’ nights out, bachelorette parties, baby showers, and other events. Two party rooms are available for rent. Guests 21 and over are permitted to enjoy adult beverages (BYOB). Guests may create projects using a variety of ever-changing mediums and techniques. Among them are mosaics, canvas painting, glass fusing, clay hand building, wine glass painting, and metal stamp jewelry. The studio offers more than 200 different pottery pieces to paint, from kids’ figurines to coffee mugs and serving bowls to vintage light-up Christmas Trees. Artistically challenged individuals needn’t be scared away. “We have stencils, stamps, stickers, silkscreens, and all kinds of different tricks and tools they can use to enhance their design,” Brinton says.
