'Tis the season for homemade gifts to family, and agirlandagluegun.com shared the easiest craft of the holiday season! Your kids will LOVE making this unique ornaments, and they will look adorable on every grandparents tree!

Supplies to make plastic cup tree ornaments

  • 12 oz clear plastic cups (+7oz would work fine as well, they need the recycle6 logo on the bottom)
  • Sharpies or other permanent markers
  • baking sheet covered in aluminum foil
  • a hole punch
  • oven
  • Ribbon or string

How to make a Plastic cup Ornament craft for kids

Set Oven to Broil setting and cover a cookie sheet with tin foil.

Draw your design. The cups will melt straight down, so you really can see all of the designs! Put on a movie from our Christmas Movie List, and spend some time really decorating them! Pay special attention to the bottom and the sides! Kids really can show off their creativity here!

Once you've decorated, place your cups face down on the cookie sheet and carefully slide them into the oven. Keeping the rack close to the middle was the most successful option for us. These will start to melt within 5 seconds, and will be done in 30 seconds so you must keep your eye on them! Don't be alarmed, they bubble as they fall flat. You can press a metal or porcelain bowl with a flat bottom on top of them. This will help press out any wrinkles or curves!

Allow them to cool for 5 minutes, and then hole punch and add string to your desired length!

These are such a simple and creative gift for even the smallest of kiddos! Monitor smaller children with markers, and use gloves to help with stains on little hands.
