Christmas Baklava Recipe

A delicious holiday treat to share!

December 8, 2023

Baklava is a holiday favorite at our house! This is a delicious dessert you can serve at a gathering as is, or with coffee or icecream. Normally made with pistachios, this version has won the hearts of just about every guest that has tried it!
This recipe does contain nuts, so we recommend checking for allergies if taking to a party or event!

Ingredients

  • 1lb package of Phyllo dough
  • 2tbs ground cinnamon
  • 2c chopped walnuts
  • 2c chopped pecans
  • 2c Honey
  • 1 1/2c melted butter
  • 1tsp Vanilla

In a bowl, mix walnuts, pecans, and cinnamon.
Preheat the oven to 250 degrees, and prepare a 9x13 backing dish by brushing the melted butter throughout. Next, place two phyllo sheets on the bottom and brush with butter. Sprinkle 2tbs of nut mixture and repeat the same process until all the layers have been applied. Apply butter to the top as well, to enhance the flavors and give the pastry a nice crispy layer.

Cut the baklava into diamond shaped pieces (similar to that of a metal fence). Place carefully in the middle rack of your oven, and bake for approximately 45 minutes or until the top is crispy and golden.
While the baklava is baking, take a saucepan and combine the vanilla and honey. Cook on low, careful not to burn or overcook.
Once the Baklava is ready, pour the syrup on top and let it cool for 10 minutes on the counter.

Serve hot, or allow to chill in the fridge!
