Jaxon Here with the Top 5 Things to Do in Columbus This September

September 4, 2024

Hey there, dog lovers! It’s Jaxon, the Chief of Staff at Unlimited Pawsibilities, back again to give you the lowdown on the best dog-friendly activities in and around Columbus this September. Whether you’re a local pup or just visiting, these events are sure to get your tail wagging. I’ve got all the deets, from dates and times to locations, plus some fun facts and reminders (because let’s face it, we dogs like to keep it real). Let’s get started!

1. Free Half-Day of Play at Unlimited Pawsibilities Canine Enrichment Academy

  • Date: Any day in September
  • Time: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Location: Unlimited Pawsibilities Canine Enrichment Academy (UPCEA), 3570 Fishinger Blvd, Hilliard, OH 43026

Start your September off right with some serious fun at UPCEA! Bring your pup in for a free half-day of play when you mention Macaroni Kid. With indoor and outdoor play areas, enrichment activities, and lots of new friends to meet, it’s a doggy paradise. Just remember to leave the cat at home—this is a no-hiss zone!

2. Bark in the Park at Huntington Park

  • Date: September 10th, 2024
  • Time: 6:15 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Location: Huntington Park, 330 Huntington Park Ln, Columbus, OH 43215

Take me out to the ballgame—literally! Bark in the Park is back at Huntington Park, where you and your pup can catch a Columbus Clippers game together. Dogs get to hang out in a special dog-friendly section of the park, and there are plenty of treats and water stations to keep us cool and happy. Fun fact: Did you know Huntington Park has been voted one of the best minor league ballparks in the country? Just don’t forget my water bottle and, of course, my poop bags!

3. Scioto Mile Fall Walk

  • Date: September 14th, 2024
  • Time: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
  • Location: Scioto Mile, Downtown Columbus, OH

Let’s take a stroll along the beautiful Scioto Mile and soak in the fall vibes. This scenic walk through downtown Columbus is perfect for enjoying the changing leaves and crisp autumn air. Did you know that the Scioto Mile features more than 145 acres of parkland? That’s a lot of space for us to explore! Just make sure to leave the cat at home—this walk is all about dogs!

4. Columbus Dog Connection Annual Doggie Dash

  • Date: September 21st, 2024
  • Time: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Location: Columbus Dog Connection, 2210 Citygate Dr, Columbus, OH 43219

Join us for a morning of fun at the Columbus Dog Connection Annual Doggie Dash! This event features a 5K run and a 1-mile walk, so you and your human can choose the distance that best fits your pace. There will be plenty of water stations and treats for all the participants. Fun fact: Columbus Dog Connection helps thousands of dogs find their forever homes each year. So lace up those running shoes and get ready to dash! And don’t forget my favorite running toy.

5. German Village Oktoberfest Dog Parade

  • Date: September 29th, 2024
  • Time: 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM
  • Location: German Village, Columbus, OH 43206

End the month with a fun and festive parade through the charming streets of German Village. The Oktoberfest Dog Parade is a great way to celebrate the season, with pups dressed in their best Bavarian costumes. And while you’re there, don’t forget to explore some of the historic buildings in German Village—it’s one of the most well-preserved historic districts in the country! Leave the cat at home (they’re not big on lederhosen), and remember to pack my water bottle.

There you have it, folks—my top 5 picks for September in Columbus. Whether you’re looking for fun, relaxation, or a bit of both, there’s something for every pup and their humans this month. I hope to see you out and about—and maybe even at UPCEA for some playtime!

Paws and kisses,
Jaxon
