FREE Splash Pad Fun around Columbus for 2021

By Compiled By: Robbi S. Publisher Mom, NW Columbus Macaroni Kid May 7, 2021

Are you looking for a {free} wet fun summer activity for the kids? Here's a list of Columbus' free splash pad and water fun areas?

Most of these parks are dependent on weather, maintenance, and COVID-19 policies so double check before you head out and I'll do my best to keep this updated.

Find more free and low-cost activities to do with kids every day of the week in our Summer Fun daily events calendar, which is full of local kid and family fun events happening around town.  You can also Subscribe today to get our FREE weekly eNewsletter delivered to your inbox every Monday night full of that week's kid and family fun local events, and stay in the know!

Free Splash Pads:

TO BE UPDATED: Hanby Park Splash Pad (Uptown Westerville): Check out some photos of the Hanby Park and Splash Pad.

TO BE UPDATED, Easton Town Center (in Town Center): Turns on one hour before mall hours and turns off one hour after hours. On weekends through August, Easton provides towels for your kids to dry off (so you don’t need to bring any!) This service is Saturdays (10am – 5pm) and Sundays (12pm – 5pm). This has a nice medium-sized splash pad for playing (water spouts). Parents can sit on benches on outsides of fountain area or at the bistro tables they have set up, as well as the grassy areas surrounding the fountains. (Please note: each Wednesday, the pads will turn off at 4:30pm for concert prep, and Tuesdays at 6pm starting in June in prep for movies.) There are many fun events throughout the summer (like the movie nights) that you could wrap an afternoon around with a picnic, splash pad and event – check out our enewsletter or calendar for these. Questions: call 614-416-7000.

Powell Splash Pad (47 Hall St.): Open 9 am to 9 pm, weather permitting.  Will open immediately following the Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony at 1 p.m. Monday, May 27, 2021. Questions: call 614-885-5380 or see their website and Facebook page.

Veterans Park Splash Pad (1121 S. Houk Rd, Delaware):  Open Daily Dawn until Dusk starting May 29, 2021. Bring your own chairs this year. City of Delaware Facebook page.

CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE Fountainside at the Scioto Mile: Nice large water splash pad with water spouts and overhead water outlets. Some seating for adults, with Bicentennial Park close for picnicking. Open April – October all day (at night it is lit). They used to have special events on Wednesdays, but it doesn't appear that is happening this year. Questions: call 614-645-3300. Hours and updates can be found on the website.

TO BE UPDATED: Polaris Fashion Place (in open mall area): Open during mall hours. Small splash pad with a few benches for parents. Great place to cool off after shopping, or if you live close and want something more passive for your younger kids. Not worth a special trip just for the splash pad, BUT it still seems relatively unknown, and therefore typically very few kids are there making it ideal for younger kids or sensitive kids.

CLOSED FOR 2021 SEASON: Ballantrae Community Park Spray Fountains, 6350 Woerner Temple Rd

Hilliard Station Park: Fountains on every day from 8 am - 10 pm. (May close early some nights for special events)

Barnett Park (1184 Barnett Rd, Columbus 43227): Open noon to 7 pm beginning June 5th.

Blackburn Park (263 Carpenter St, Columbus 43205):  Open 12 pm - 7 pm beginning June 5th.

Linden Center for Opportunity (1350 Briarwood Ave., Columbus, OH 43211): Open 12 pm - 7 pm beginning June 5th.

What to bring: Towels, sunscreen, blankets (for sitting), lots of water to drink, maybe a change of clothes and snacks or lunch if you want to make a day of it.

Have fun!
