June 21st is not only the first official day of summer, but it's also National Go Skateboarding Day! Skateboarding is a great recreational sport, that encourages balance, self expression, and fun excuse to get outside and exercise!
We put together a guide of some of the best local spots you can "drop in" on.
It is recommended that you avoid skating in wet weather, and wear close-toed, slip resistant shoes. Please note that some skate parks in Columbus are a little older. The terrain and surfaces may be a little rough, and it is always advised you wear proper safety equipment regardless of your experience level, and that children are supervised accordingly.
Dublin Skate Park - 5200 Emerald Parkway, Dublin, 43017
This park was made with input from local skaters. Designed for all ability levels, ages, and styles of skating, is a great spot for all local street riders to test their skills, and maybe learn a few new tricks.
Adventure Park Skate Park - 260 Adventure Park Dr, Powell, 43065
This park is a great viewing spot to catch experienced skaters. With a street area, euro gap, ramps, and a quarter-pipe, there is a lot of great activity.
Delaware Skate Park - 20 E Lincoln Ave, Delaware, 43015
Every experience level can have a great time with the rails, ramps, and a large pool style bowl. Skates, bikes, and blades are perfectly acceptable at this park.
Westerville Skate Park - 455 Park Meadow Rd, Westerville, 43081
This park is designed for more experienced skateboarders. There are hubbas, a snake run, banks, a few fun boxes, a euro gap, and a bowl. There is very little shade, so bring your own chairs and water to keep cool!
Grove City Skate Park - 3728 Hoover Rd, Grove City, 43123
A top feature at this park, is a bowl with an 11-foot depth/clamshell. There is adequate street skater section that is perfect for beginners. There are some shaded shelters and benches available for parents to sit at.
Dodge Skate Park - 379 Mcdowell St, Columbus, 43215
This park has quarter-pipes, 3 different sized drop-in bowls, and a snake run. One of the bowls is frequently used as a half-pipe.
